Temple of Ehecatl

The Temple of Ehecatl at Teopanzolco.

The Temple of Ehecatl is off to the site’s northwest corner.  It is basically just a round platform with the sides tilted inwards and a staircase in front.  I do not recall feeling anything special about it.

According to the INAH Plaque accompanying this temple, the Temple of Ehecatl once held a round temple with high conical roofing made from wood and thatch.  The ancient codices show these characteristic (round) buildings.  The Mexicas (the indigenous people) dedicated these round temples to the wind god Ehecatl.  The Mexicas depicted Ehecatl, also called Quetzalcoatl, as a man-bird.
